Svalbard – North Pole
I left South Africa with a group of fellow photographers that I was leading on an Arctic adventure. I had chartered an entire boat for our mission to try and capture primarily polar bears but also walrus, seals, artic fox, reindeer, whales, birds and the most incredible landscapes.
What was your main reason for heading to the destination?
Photographing Polar Bears and other awesome things like Walrus, Seals, Whales, Birds & Landscapes
What was the highlight of the trip for you?
Just being there in one of the most remote wilderness areas on the planet the way it was thousands of years ago.
Any difficulties you had to contend with?
It was cold with some heavy artic polar winds at times. But mostly it was super awesome.
Which Outsider Co. product did you use on your mission?.
My array of Craghoppers clothing. Jackets, base layers, puffers and more.
Any tips for fellow adventurers heading to the destination?
Dress warmly..! Don’t forget gloves and a beanie and baselayers. Also take a waterproof bag or case for when you’re on the zodiac’s, as your gear could be splashed with saltwater.
Take an array of lenses so that you can photograph animal portraits as well as animals in the environment and everything in between.
Three important items you can’t leave home without when heading there?
My Bishorn Jacket, Corey Fleece and Kiwi winter-lined pants, my array of cameras and sunglasses!
